The Above the Rim Youth Development Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to address the current dismantling of after-school, recreation and the lack of a true urban sports ministry in the Twin Cities area.
Its Founder and Executive Director, Larry A. McKenzie understands that Basketball and sports are “MUCH MORE THAN JUST A GAME” and recognizes that our youth are our greatest resource while at the same time our greatest challenge.
Our goal is to develop a foundation for a championship program and use basketball as a tool to empower young men to be champions in the classroom, in their families, and their communities. Our desire is to develop the “whole person,” not just young men who can jump high and score.
